The Scottish Athletics Archive is a major work in progress by SATS documenting all athletes who have appeared in the Scottish senior rankings since the first Scottish Athletics annual was published in 1960.

The first part of this work covered the years 1959 to 1985 and this has now been extended to bring it up to the end of 2022.

The core part of the work is the athletes' records. These records (where complete) include each athlete's name, date of birth, clubs, year by year ranking records, and championship record. It is supported by further information with the top 10 rankings by event for each year, the record of Scottish champions in the period, and further information on district champions, age-group champions and schools champions.

There is a comprehensive guide to the information included in the athletes' records but there is still much information to be added, from missing forenames, dates of birth, family relationships, and the identification of athletes who may be from other countries.

Championship 1-2-3 results dating back to the first championships in 1883 now added, and progressive best performance lists showing the best Scottish performances from 1883 to the present time.

Ranking lists are shown for each event for each year within the period from 1959 to 2020. The top ten are shown. These may not always correspond to rankings shown at the time for the following reasons:

• If performances have been identified that were not included within the rankings at the time, such performances have been adjusted for;

• Wind-assisted performances are not ranked;

• Non-Scottish athletes are included in the rankings without being given a ranking position;

• Field events which were originally recorded in feet and inches have been converted to their metric equivalents.
